Function / Content

This series consists of four Admission registers that record information about teachers and students at the Alice Spring Infant School. Included are date of admission, gender, date of birth, religion, name of student, occupation and residential address of parents or guardian, and remarks. The remarks include information about the date of leaving and the school to which student transferred. The beginning of the register records names of teachers and dates commenced, ceased and location to which teacher transferred. Also recorded are statistics such as annual returns, total number of children in attendance, number of days of attendance, and number of days school was open. An alphabetical listing by surname letter including student number is located at the beginning of the register. A comment in each register states 'The Alice Springs Infants school closed on 8/12/1960. School to become the Alice Springs Primary 1961. All children in the register to attend the Alice Springs Primary or Alice Springs East Primary in 1961'. The series was in the custody of the National Trust of Australia NT (McDouall Stuart Branch) from approximately 1991 until they were transferred to the NTAS in 2017.
